The Value of Field Studies
“We found substantial evidence to indicate that fieldwork, properly conceived, adequately planned, well taught and effectively followed up, offers learners opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills in ways that add value to their everyday experiences in the classroom”
- Dillon et al: ‘The value of outdoor learning: evidence from research in the UK and elsewhere.’
A field study programme brings to life many concepts and principles covered in the classroom. Our study programmes are designed to teach, to inspire and to guide experiential learning. We want students to gain an insight and appreciation of the unique and sensitive habitats found in the Middle East.
Students who conduct studies in the field are that much better equipped to understand the intricacies and characteristics of nature. Not only do students practice and perfect practical skills from prior learning, but they are also exposed to new methods of data collection essential to their success in the relative subjects.
We believe that learning is enhanced by fun. By combining real life experiences and enjoyment, we believe that students who complete our field study programmes have the knowledge and excitement to positively influence the protection of the UAE’s natural heritage.
